Introduction

The subcoeruleus nucleus (SubC), also known as the sublaterodorsal nucleus or nucleus subcoeruleus, is a critical brainstem structure located adjacent to the locus coeruleus. It plays essential roles in REM sleep generation, pain modulation, cardiovascular control, and respiratory regulation. Recent research has highlighted its involvement in neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. [@saper2010]
