The Nucleus of the Diagonal Band (NDB) is a critical cholinergic structure in the basal forebrain that plays essential roles in cognitive function, particularly memory, attention, and cortical arousal. The NDB contains cholinergic neurons that project extensively to the hippocampus and cerebral cortex, forming a key component of the basal forebrain cholinergic system (BFCS). Degeneration of NDB cholinergic neurons is a hallmark pathological feature of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and contributes significantly to the characteristic cognitive decline in memory and attention [1](https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neurobiolaging.2019.03.011).
