ASCL1 (Achaete-Scute Homolog 1), also known as MASH1, is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor essential for neural development, neurogenesis, and the differentiation of specific neuronal lineages.[@bert2015] It is one of the most studied proneural genes and plays critical roles in both development and adult neurogenesis, with significant implications for regenerative medicine and neurodegenerative disease therapies.[@panda2021]
