Function

DLGAP5 encodes a protein also known as HURP (Hepatoma Up-Regulated Protein). Unlike other DLGAP family members that are primarily synaptic, DLGAP5 is mainly involved in cell division, specifically in mitotic spindle formation and chromosome alignment. It localizes to microtubules during mitosis and is involved in the stabilization of spindle microtubules.
