DLGAP5 encodes a protein also known as HURP (Hepatoma Up-Regulated Protein). Unlike other DLGAP family members that are primarily synaptic, DLGAP5 is mainly involved in cell division, specifically in mitotic spindle formation and chromosome alignment.
