Overview

PDE5A (Phosphodiesterase 5A) encodes a cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase that specifically hydrolyzes cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). Function

cGMP Hydrolysis

PDE5A specifically catalyzes the hydrolysis of cGMP to GMP:

cGMP → GMP + Pi

This reaction is competitively inhibited by cGMP analogs and allosteric regulators.
