PMS2 (Postmeiotic Segregation Increased 2) is a critical DNA mismatch repair (MMR) gene that plays an essential role in maintaining genomic integrity. Located on chromosome 7p22.1, the gene encodes a 862-amino acid protein that functions as part of the MutLalpha heterodimer complex with MLH1.[@li2008] This complex is the central effector of DNA mismatch repair, responsible for recognizing mismatched DNA, initiating strand-specific repair, and ensuring high-fidelity DNA replication [1](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18219176/).
