Sonic Hedgehog (SHH) is a pivotal signaling molecule that plays fundamental roles in embryonic development, tissue patterning, and adult tissue homeostasis. As one of three mammalian hedgehog proteins (SHH, IHH, DHH), SHH is the most widely studied in the context of nervous system development and neurodegenerative diseases.
