Overview

ADRB3 (Adrenoceptor Beta 3), also known as β3-adrenergic receptor, is a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) encoded by the ADRB3 gene located on chromosome 8p11.23.[@strosberg1993] Unlike β1 and β2 adrenergic receptors, which are widely expressed in the heart and lungs respectively, ADRB3 has a distinct tissue distribution with high expression in adipose tissue, the gastrointestinal tract, and the urinary bladder [1].[@arch1994] The receptor plays crucial roles in regulating lipolysis, thermogenesis, smooth muscle relaxation, and metabolic homeostasis.
