APH1A (Anterior Pharynx Defective 1 Homolog A) is a core component of the [gamma-secretase](/entities/gamma-secretase) complex, the enzymatic complex responsible for the proteolytic cleavage of [amyloid precursor protein](/entities/app-protein) (APP) to produce [amyloid-beta](/proteins/amyloid-beta) (Abeta) peptides.
