title: Aurora Kinase C Protein

Overview

Aurora Kinase C (AURKC) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that plays essential roles in meiotic cell division and is crucial for male and female gametogenesis[@kim2010][@sasai2004]. While initially characterized as a testis-specific and meiosis-specific kinase, AURKC has also been implicated in various pathological conditions including male infertility, cancer progression, and certain neurodegenerative processes[@kimmins2007][@schindler2011]. The protein belongs to the Aurora kinase family, which also includes Aurora Kinase A (AURKA) and Aurora Kinase B (AURKB), each with distinct but overlapping functions in cell division[@vader2008].
