Overview

The C9orf72 dipeptide repeat (DPR) proteins are toxic polyl glycine-proline (poly-GP) and poly-proline-alanine (poly-PA) species generated by unconventional translation of the hexanucleotide repeat expansion in the C9orf72 gene. This repeat expansion is the most common genetic cause of both frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). [@corf]
