Overview

The CACNB3 protein (Calcium Voltage-Gated Channel Auxiliary Subunit Beta 3) is an auxiliary β subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs). These auxiliary subunits play critical roles in modulating calcium channel trafficking, gating properties, and current kinetics. In the brain, CACNB3 is expressed in various neuronal populations where it contributes to calcium signaling pathways essential for neuronal excitability, synaptic transmission, and gene expression.
