Overview

GFAP (Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein) is a type III intermediate filament protein predominantly expressed in astrocytes of the central nervous system. It serves as a major astrocyte marker and is crucial for maintaining astrocyte structure, blood-brain barrier integrity, and neuronal support.
