Kir3.1 (also known as GIRK1, G-protein-activated inward-rectifier potassium channel 1) is a member of the inward-rectifier potassium channel family (Kir3.x) that plays critical roles in neuronal signaling, synaptic integration, and regulation of neural circuit function. Encoded by the KCNJ3 gene, Kir3.1 forms G-protein-activated potassium channels that mediate inhibitory currents in response to neurotransmitter receptor activation. Structure
