RIPOR1 Protein (Rho Family Interacting Protein 1)

Overview

RIPOR1 (Rho Family Interacting Protein 1), also known as FAM65A, is a member of the Rho family GTPase-activating proteins that regulates cytoskeletal dynamics and cell signaling. This protein plays important roles in neuronal development, synaptic plasticity, and cellular stress responses [1](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23993638/). RIPOR1 is encoded by the RIPOR1 gene (formerly FAM65A) located on chromosome 16p13.3 and is expressed in various tissues, with high expression in the brain and hematopoietic system [2](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22140089/).

The RIPOR family of proteins represents important regulators of Rho GTPase signaling, with growing evidence for their involvement in neurodegenerative diseases. RIPOR1 specifically regulates Cdc42 and Rac1, two GTPases critical for cytoskeletal dynamics [3](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19148178/).
