Overview

RPL9 (Ribosomal Protein L9) is a component of the 60S large ribosomal subunit in eukaryotic cells. As part of the ribosome machinery, RPL9 plays essential roles in protein synthesis, participating in ribosome assembly, translation elongation, and peptidyl transferase activity. While traditionally viewed as a housekeeping protein, emerging research suggests that specific ribosomal proteins like RPL9 may have specialized functions in neuronal cells and may contribute to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases[@bhat2015].
