Overview

TAK1, also known as mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 7 (MAP3K7), is a serine/threonine protein kinase that functions as a central hub in multiple intracellular signaling pathways. This 579-amino acid protein is encoded by the MAP3K7 gene located on chromosome 6q15 in humans. TAK1 was initially discovered as a component of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) signaling cascade but has since emerged as a critical regulator of inflammatory responses, cell survival, and stress responses.
