Batten disease (neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, NCL) is a group of rare, fatal neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disorders. While there is currently no cure, treatment focuses on symptom management, disease modification, and supportive care. Recent advances in enzyme replacement therapy and gene therapy have provided the first disease-modifying treatments for specific subtypes[@mole2023].
