This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the effects of physical activity interventions on cognitive function in patients with confirmed Alzheimer's disease diagnosis. The study included 13 randomized controlled trials with 813 AD patients total. Investigators systematically searched six databases following PRISMA guidelines, limiting inclusion to RCTs that met standardized AD diagnostic criteria. The primary outcome was improvement in Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores. Methodological quality was assessed using Cochrane Handbook criteria. Subgroup analyses were conducted to evaluate how different intervention parameters (intensity, duration, frequency, total weekly time, and total intervention duration) influenced effect sizes. The meta-analysis found that physical activity significantly improved MMSE scores with a weighted mean difference of 1.79 points (95% CI: 1.03 to 2.55). The study provides evidence-based recommendations for optimal physical activity intervention parameters in AD patients.

Statistical analysis performed using Stata 15.0.
