Clinical experiment designed to assess clinical efficacy targeting N/A in human patients. Primary outcome: Fertility ratio (FR) - mean number of children compared to general population
A large-scale population-based study examining reproductive fitness (fecundity) in individuals with various psychiatric disorders compared to their unaffected siblings and the general population. The study utilized Swedish population databases to analyze fertility patterns across multiple psychiatric conditions including schizophrenia, autism, bipolar disorder, depression, anorexia nervosa, and substance abuse. The research aimed to understand how genetic variants conferring psychiatric disorder liability persist in the population despite potential negative selection pressure. Fertility ratios were calculated accounting for age, sex, family size, and affected status to determine reproductive success across different psychiatric conditions and between sexes.
Population-based analysis using Swedish Multi-Generation Register and Hospital Discharge Register. Measured fecundity of patients with psychiatric disorders and their unaffected siblings compared to general population. Calculated fertility ratios accounting for age, sex, family size, and affected status.
Determine reproductive fitness patterns across psychiatric disorders and evaluate selection pressure on causal genetic variants
Statistical significance in fertility ratio differences between affected individuals, siblings, and general population
