ExploratoryADCY8wild peregrine falcons (Falco peregrinus)proposed
Whole genome resequencing of 35 peregrine falcon genomes from 4 Arctic breeding populations to identify genetic determinants of migratory behavior. The study performed genome-wide association analysis to identify genes associated with population-level differences in migratory distance. The genomic analysis revealed that the gene ADCY8 (adenylyl cyclase 8) was significantly associated with migratory distance differences between populations. This represents one of the first genome-wide studies to identify specific genetic variants underlying natural variation in bird migration behavior, providing molecular insights into the genetic architecture of this complex behavioral trait.
