Abstract

BACKGROUND: Mitochondrial homeostasis is vital for optimal skeletal muscle integrity. Mitochondrial quality control (MQC) mechanisms that are essential for maintaining proper functions of mitochondria include mitochondrial biogenesis, dynamics and mitophagy.
