Overview

Structure

eIF2B1 is the alpha subunit of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B complex. The eIF2B heterodecamer consists of two copies each of five subunits (alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon). The alpha subunit is the smallest and contributes to the structural organization of the complex. Crystal structures reveal the decameric arrangement with a central core formed by the regulatory subunits (alpha, beta, gamma, delta) and catalytic subunits (epsilon) at the periphery[@structure2015].
