VPS54 (Vacuolar Protein Sorting 54) is a key component of the GARP (Golgi-Associated Retrograde Protein) and HOPS (Homotypic fusion and Vacuolar Protein Sorting) tethering complexes. These complexes are essential for endosomal-lysosomal trafficking and Golgi function. VPS54 has been implicated in neurodegenerative diseases, particularly through its role in protein sorting and trafficking.
