Investigation of the mechanism by which the TUG C-terminal cleavage product enters the nucleus and interacts with PPARγ and PGC-1α. This study demonstrated that after insulin-stimulated cleavage and GLUT4 release, the TUG C-terminal fragment translocates to the nucleus where it binds to transcriptional regulators to control gene expression programs involved in lipid oxidation and thermogenesis.
