Investigation of the specific contribution of receptor-binding domain (RBD)-targeting antibodies to the protective efficacy of hybrid immunity plasma. The experiment involved depleting RBD-specific antibodies from hybrid immune plasma and testing the remaining plasma for protective capacity against SARS-CoV-2 infection in TKI mice. The depletion of RBD-targeting antibodies completely abrogated the protection provided by hybrid immune plasma, demonstrating that these specific antibodies are crucial for the superior protective efficacy observed with hybrid immunity. This mechanistic study identified RBD-targeting antibodies as the key protective component in hybrid immunity plasma.
