Introduction

Crf Receptor 1 Neurons is an important cell type in the neurobiology of neurodegenerative diseases. This page provides detailed information about its structure, function, and role in disease processes.

Overview

CRF-R1 neurons (also termed CRHR1 neurons or corticotropin-releasing factor receptor 1 neurons) are neurons that express the CRF receptor type 1 (encoded by the CRHR1 gene). These neurons mediate the effects of corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF, also known as CRH) and related peptides on stress response, anxiety regulation, memory modulation, and autonomic function. CRF-R1 is a G-protein coupled receptor that is highly expressed in brain regions involved in stress processing and emotional regulation. [@crfr2009]

CRF (corticotropin-releasing factor) is the primary mediator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis response to stress. Through CRF-R1, CRF orchestrates behavioral, endocrine, autonomic, and immune responses to maintain homeostasis during challenging situations. [@crf2018]
